The Mohawks consisted of a group of session musicians assembled by the British composer Alan Hawkshaw. They released the song The Champ in 1968 which went on to be one of THE essential Hip-Hop samples of all time.

The Clash were an English rock band formed in London in 1976. They are considered one of the most influential acts in the original wave of British punk rock, with their music fusing elements of reggae, dub, funk, and ska.

James Joseph Brown was an American singer, songwriter, dancer, musician, and record producer. The central progenitor of funk.  His music has been heavily sampled by hip-hop musicians and other artists.

Their 1969 track "Amen, Brother" featured a four-bar drum solo by Gregory C. Coleman known as the "Amen break". This drum solo became the most widely sampled recording in electronic music history.
